Prof Flavio Gazzani is an economist with a special focus on renewable energy, environmental protection, and climate change policy with an aim toward achieving sustainable development. Prof Gazzani received his Ph.D. in Environmental Economics (Murdoch University, Western Australia 2009) and worked as a researcher in environmental management and energy economics at Murdoch University. He has 20 years of academic and consultant experiences as working in environmental and sustainable energy management, both in Australia and Europe, particularly in the following areas: sustainable energy policy and programs, including energy efficiency, demand‑side management, environmental fiscal reform, and applied econometric analysis, renewable energy and abatement of greenhouse gas emissions, government energy policy and planning across all energy forms, water management, and governance.
His research areas are related to econometric models applied to climate change evaluation using Dynamic Integrated Climate Change Model (DICE), Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model for policy analysis and forecasting, estimating energy efficiency using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA), and discrete choice modeling for water and energy demand behavior. During his working experience in Australia, he has developed extensive knowledge on carbon taxation, assessing their greenhouse gas emissions reduction and fiscal impact of a carbon tax on the primary energy sector.
He has served as an expert advisor and consultant on European Commission Energy Roadmap 2050, Government of Western Australia on sustainable water management and market-based instruments to manage chemical fertilizers, United Nation Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in assessing the economic impact of climate change in Mediterranean region and advisor on environmental fiscal reform for the Italian Government. He was also employed as a senior researcher at the Stockholm Environmental Institute in Estonia, a senior researcher at the University of Rome “Sapienza” in Italy as project team leader on several macroeconomic model development and fiscal reform for government agencies.

Prof. Kyriakos Kouveliotis is currently President of the educational organization Atheneum Liberal Studies and Professor at Uninettuno University. In the last 20 years he has taught in many Universities and educational organizations globally among which Newcastle University, University of Sunderland, Deree College, University of Indianapolis, Hellenic Air Force War College and Hellenic Naval War College to name a few. He has published 12 books and dozens of original scientific articles. He has also served as a Scientific Advisor to the Minister of Defence, to the Deputy Minister of Development and to the General Secretariat of Communication and Mass Media of the Greek Government.

A biochemist by training, Professor Georgios Gkoutos was initially involved in the field of Computational Biology following a MSc degree by research on correlated mutations analysis on G-Protein coupled receptors which involved modelling class A G-Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) and drug design. He then proceeded to obtain a PhD in the areas of Chemoinformatics/Bioinformatics at Imperial College of London.
Since 2015, Georgios holds the chair of Clinical Bioinformatics, a joint appointment between the University of Birmingham Medical School and the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. He is a Faculty Affiliate Professor of Clinical Bioinformatics, Berkeley Lab, Associate Director of MRC Health Data Research UK, Co-Director of the WCH-Birmingham Research Institute and Alan Turing Fellow.

He has been in the shipping and trading business since 1968, the 4th generation of his family to manage one of the
oldest surviving Greek Maritime firms. Vernicos Shipping origins, date back to 1851 when Emmanuelle N. Vernicos
moved to Constantinople from the island of Sifnos. His son Nicolas E. Vernicos moved the operation to Piraeus after
the First World War, of the 20th century.
NAV serves as President of Vernicos Maritime Group, Nicolas E. Vernicos Shipping Co. Ltd., the oldest salvage
and towage house in Greece, Vernicos Shipyard S.A., and as vice-president of Vernicos Yachts, Greece’s largest
yachting group, and Consortium Travel S.A. www.consortium.gr
In 2003 NAV was elected President of the International Chamber of Commerce-Hellas (ICC) and in 2015, Vice
Chair of the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC)

and Shipping Activities Committee.
Parallel to his business activities, Mr. Vernicos is very active in the sectors of culture and environment. In addition to

In January 1979 NAV was elected an Underwriting Member of Lloyd’s.
He has been active in shipping conventions all over the world, and has represented Greece at OECD and UNCTAD
conferences. As a governor of the Transportation committee of the World Economic Forum, he has participated in
many annual meetings of Davos since 1988.
NAV has been extensively involved in sports and athletics, having been a member of the executive committee of the
Greek Football Association and the Olympiakos F.C. He is also member of the Automobile and Touring Club of
Greece.
During the period of Greek, military rule (1967 to 1974), Mr. Vernicos and members of his family were arrested and
jailed for their political beliefs. Mr. Vernicos was married in 1977 to Barbara nee Stratos, a leading businesswoman in
her own right, managing partner of NotosCom SA, www.notoscom.gr, Greece’s largest distribution and retailing group
with department stores and branded retail network in Greece, Eastern Europe and Turkey. They have three daughters
and two granddaughters and reside in Athens and Paris.
Nicolas A. Vernicos was born in 1945 in Athens into a seafaring family originating from the island of Sifnos in the
Cyclades. After studies in Athens College he received his M. Sc. in Economics from the Athens University of
Economics (ASOEE). He served as an ensign in the Coast Guard and got a second officer degree.

Prof Peter Nyasulu is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the School of Health Sciences, Monash South Africa. He is also a member of the executive board of the African Centre for eHealth Excellence (Acfee) and an editor and frequent contributor to eHealth News Africa.
Peter’s teaching focuses on measurement and disease control courses. He is an infectious diseases epidemiologist with a long history of involvement in clinical and epidemiological research in tuberculosis, HIV, sexually transmitted diseases, pneumococcal diseases, and antimicrobial resistance surveillance.

She holds a Master is in Public Health, minor in Epidemiology. She also has advanced training in Education, Habilitation in Instructional Design, at University of Wisconsin Stout (UW Stout-USA).
Research interests are in Social Epidemiology, Social Determinants of health-illness, Health inequalities, Oral Health inequalities, and new technologies applied to health.

Dr. Mufti Suhail Sayeed is a board-certified clinical pathologist and translational drug development professional with extensive experience in the design and execution of early phase clinical trials and non-clinical regulatory studies in diverse therapeutic areas like oncology, metabolics, dermatology and infectious diseases.
Dr. Sayeed completed his pathology residency from the National Board of Examinations (DNB, India) and translational medicine training at the University of Edinburgh. He has been in various leadership roles at Piramal Enterprises NCE Research, Cognizant Life Sciences and Venus Medicine Research Center and is currently working as the Director for Strategy and Operations, Department of Translational Medicine and Therapeutics at HealthCare Global Enterprises Ltd (HCG Oncology).
