Q&A:

To tell the truth I never ever saw myself arriving at this point in my life, especially in relation to study. However, during my nursing career, various opportunities arose and led me to this BDA. I wish to continue learning about management and leadership. I see myself leading my own team, and being a role model for them. It has been something that I wanted from my childhood. In addition, I think that learning is always good and beneficial to everyone.

My journey is now 31 years old! I have been through everything from a hernia operation when I was just a kid up to graduating 3 times now, holidays, working, hobbies, and the list never ends. When I was a little child I always had problems at school, as never wanted to learn that much. Being in a church school and all of its discipline, for me, never seemed to help me. However apart from this fact, my childhood was very good and enriching. My family had taught me very well how to live a happy life without having too much. Our income as a family was never big however we always seemed to go well. In my teenage years, I had a big dream come true of going to Rome for 18 days alone to serve as an altar boy at the Vatican. That holiday had made an impact on me and helped to see the world from a different perspective. I helped grow so much and started to appreciate more my life.

After my O levels exam, I did not have in mind to start a nursing career and in fact, I had studied accounts and economics and after two years I switched to maths and physics. However after four years of doing ‘nothing’ I decided to enter the nursing school as a Diploma student. I think it was meant to be that way, as I come from a background of nurses, doctors etc. After my three-year course, I started working as a nurse and never looked back. I also did a BSc in Nursing and after that also a Masters in Healthcare Management. So in a span of 10 years, I graduated three times and that for me is a big achievement.

With regard to my personal and social life, I can say that I had experiences that lead me to the person I am today. My mom was always my rock and advisor. Always teaching me and being there for me all the way. My mom is everything for me, if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be the nurse I am today.”

“I am passionate about almost everything, I try to do and learn a lot of things. I have various hobbies including simple ones like biking, and running, and even more complex ones like target shooting and firearms collector.

At the moment I am preparing my home, filling it with furniture and all, and it gives me a sense of responsibility and fulfillment. The idea that now I will take full control of my life is something that I am very much looking forward to.

I am also going to get married this coming December and that is something out of this world for me. I have waiting for this day all my life. My fiance gives me a lot of support and help. She encourages me to do almost everything, she joins in all of my hobbies and she is always there to lift me up.”

At the end of my master’s program, I realized that my knowledge had increased drastically, something that helped me a lot in the work position I am currently holding. My aim is not to stop here, but I always dreamt of being more than I am now. I see myself leading my own team, having my subordinates, and being the leader everyone looks for. This dream was always on my mind. And especially in healthcare there is a need to have good leaders to help the teams perform better. We have to remember that we are working with humans not machines and thus this course will give me the right knowledge and tools to help me achieve my dream.
