Designation and responsibilities:

I am currently working as a Pharmacovigilance Specialist, but will be moving into a Project Controller role this year to be able to take on a more managerial position within clinical trials. Currently I handle most of the duties within the Pharmacovigilance Department, which mainly deals with the safety aspect of a clinical trial. We handle registration of safety incidents as well as the annual safety report for each clinical trial and the communication between the Sponsor and the Relevant Authorities.

Past Organizations:

Before my current position, I worked as an intern during my final year of university and one year after at a Cardiology Clinic where I worked directly with doctors and patients.

Q&A:

I wanted to enroll in this program to be able to gain a deeper understanding of the world of clinical trials. My goal was to move up within my company from a small department to be able to become a Project Controller where I will have a more managerial position in managing clinical trials.

During my time at university my goal was to go to medical school as I have always loved the healthcare field and working to help people get better. During my final year and first year after university, I was studing to take my MCAT and was beginning to have doubts whether it was what I actually wanted and ultimately decided it was not. After that decision I felt lost and unsure of what to do so I began to apply to jobs and found one in a company that works in clinical trials and realized that I loved it. During my time at this company I decided that this was what I wanted to do, which ultimately lead me to doing the MBA in Clinical Research Management to help me on my journey.

As mentioned earlier, I have realized working at my current company that I have a passion in the world of clincial trials which is why I am pursuing the MBA at Rushford Business School, but I am also completing another masters related to the clinical trials field. It is a challenge to be doing both and there are days that are a real struggle, but I am confident that by completing both of these degrees it will help me reach my goals and take me to where I want to go.

I believe the world of clinical trials is vital to the continued safety of our society. Especially after what happened with COVID, it is clear that diseases and viruses can completely paralyze the world and it is through clinical trials that we can overcome these moments. I believe that I can take what I learn from the MBA in Clinical Research Management to provide a contribution to this field and that through this I can help society at large.
